After a short and uneventful flight we arrived in Madrid this afternoon. We booked this night on our own at the hotel where we will begin our tour. We were surprised to be greeted by our tour guide in the lobby and she introduced us to another couple who will be on our tour.
This hotel gets very mixed reviews online, but with our Marriott status we were upgraded to a newly renovated and relatively quiet room. I suspect our subsequent rooms will be more modest.
It's supposed to rain for the next few days that we will be in Madrid. Perhaps we will cancel the walking tour we booked earlier. Rick Steves recommends the Royal Palace.
