Riding home on the bus from a full day and most of my fellow travelers are having a siesta. I am happy to have a chance to blog and publish from the bus.
We spent the morning touring Malaga, about a hour away from Tourmellinos, and our guide's home town. As with Gilbralter, much of this sea side city is built on land that has been reclaimed from the sea. Dutch architects and engineers are the experts at this. The cit has a classic Moorish tower and walls high on the hills above the sea. There are excellent Roman ruins beneath the tower and this is a classic example of the civilizations that were once living here. Today this modern city is beautifully landscaped with flowers and Jacaranda trees.
In the afternoon we were guests in the small agricultural town of Salinas for our home hosted lunch. Our hostess has been working with Grand Circle for over 20 years and does not speak any English. Nevertheless she was a generous hostess and a great cook. Our vegetarian lunch was a fruit salad, lentil soup, Spanish omlette with tomato sauce and flan.
Heading to Seville tomorrow morning. I am hoping to have a salad for dinner. We are so full from lunch.
