the optional trip to Gilbralter was cancelled for today and our guide offered us a free day trip to Gilbralter as an alternative. The Rick Steves guide book is lukewarm about the travel value of this English territory that is physically attached to Spain so since we did not have anything we preferred to do and since the Brexit details will be dealing with situations like this, we decided to go.
The views of and from the "rock" are beautiful. The €20 minibus was late and hot and uncomfortable, but it took us to all the mandatory spots in this community and the guide gave us a decent history of the area. This spot was highly strategic during WWII and continues to be important NATO security. It's also a very crowded tourist area, where everyone is trying to ear fish and chips at the same time. They WERE delicious, though.
It's a two hour bus ride back to Tourremolinous and out seaside hotel. Having internet on the bus makes the time go by quickly and allows me to write this blog. The internet connection in our room last night was slow by comparison to the bus.
